Worms

My cat was sick and there was a worm in it 🤢 I had used supermarket deworming tablets. The vet said these were useless and gave me some proper tablets. The thing is a have a young baby and don't want to risk the baby getting worms or any of the rest of us. The cat has been quarantined to the utility room for now but is crying to come in. How long after having the deworming tablet will it take for the cat to be worm free and not contagious?

I doubt it would be that easy for him to pass worms to a baby. I'm no expect though. Google is probably your friend here.

Worms are normally dead within 36 hours of using a wormer (a proper one - not supermarket rubbish) in my experience. Whether or not they are still any sort of risk to humans though I have no idea.

Thanks... I'm more worried about the older kids, who constantly play with and cuddle the cat, and then the baby...

Its different worms that infect humans I thought.
Get your kids to wash their hands all the time to be on the safe side. the cat should be o.k and keep using a good wormer like Drontal.
You dont need to worry just keep upto date with worming and dont get rid of the cat.

Ah I was told they could infection the kids by the vet...
And would never get rid of the cat, just hate hearing her meowing wanting to come into main house. She is in utility room at the mo.

Oh poor cat. I really think you should let her in. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Thanks, she's in...
