Ours always have. Horrible when they leave the legs lying around!

MumGoneMild · 24/01/2018 16:17

One gobbles them up but the other likes to put the spider carcass on my side of the bedEnvy

Dodie66 · 24/01/2018 16:26

Yes and they eat daddy long legs too

MysteryLovesCompany · 24/01/2018 16:29

Yes, and flies.

RickOShay · 24/01/2018 16:36

Not just mine then! It was the way she smacked her lips afterwards Grin

Yes she eats all things creepy crawly which suits me just fine.

SanFranBear · 24/01/2018 16:39

Yes and like Mystery, he's a big fan of flies - enjoys the chase and chews them with gusto Grin

ObscuredbyFog · 24/01/2018 16:46

One of mine, mainly white on her face, used to gently pick very large arachnids up in her mouth so all the dark often thick and hairy legs were waving in front of her white chubby chops.

I'd know nothing about this until she jumped up on the arm of the sofa and waited until I turned to look at her new mobile moustache which was about 2 inches away from my face Shock
I was terrified to move quickly in case she dropped them on me and terrified to stay put in case she dropped them in my lap.

Once she'd pranced around with them in her mouth for a while and scared me witless, she'd eat them.

We need a shudder emoticon.

MsHomeSlice · 24/01/2018 16:48

yes. my first cat loved daddylonglegs.
Idiotcat does not care for insects, his illicit snack of choice is the mushrooms in the lawn.
His sister adores flies, she is visibly smug when she spots one in a window and utterly triumphant once she has it crammed in her mouth, i have seen her ram one in and crunch it ....as sanfranbear says with gusto!

SweetChickadee · 24/01/2018 16:49

Oh yes - one of mine scoffed a spider when we first got him as a kitten. I thought 'he can stay...' Grin

It turns out he eats all bugs. Flies, dragonflies, crickets, you name it, he'll eat it. The crunchier the better.

I do have to hoover legs up a fair bit

LittleFeileFooFoo · 24/01/2018 16:50

And moths. Mine stopped doing that asthey got older, they would then just pat them to death.

I have to say that we are currently cat free due to material attrition and wanting to wait till ds is a bit older to get new cats, but my house had many more bugs than i remember. Though fewer dust bunnies!

LittleFeileFooFoo · 24/01/2018 16:51

That should be natural attrition! My two old ladies of19 and 20 recently passed.

mimibunz · 24/01/2018 16:55

I wish! He loves a good mouse but otherwise can’t be bothered.

RickOShay · 24/01/2018 17:28

Oh I am sorry FooFoo, they are grand ages.

LittleFeileFooFoo · 24/01/2018 17:58

Thank you rock o shady, they were prehistoric! They got me through law school, leaving a bastard, new dh and a kiddo! They also taught ds how to behave toward cats, and were happy to receive kindly pets from him. Smile

RickOShay · 24/01/2018 21:14

I love my dog, but I didn’t know how much I would love my cats, even if they do eat spiders.
They sound great Foufou.

shouldnobetter · 24/01/2018 21:31

Yes,

All our cats love to hunt and eat spiders and our female cat is mad about moths.

witchhazelblue · 24/01/2018 21:34

My cat eats all sorts - she eat a spider recently that made her mouth foam Confused. But she also eats moths, frogs, mice, birds...anything that moves really. And cake if she can get it.

CupcakeWithIcing · 24/01/2018 21:41

I had a cat growing up that used to eat spiders after he tortured them for a while.

I now have a toddler who eats them instead, although I have to give him credit for sharing with the dog too. --

Before I get hounded and told my son will develop a horrible disease I would like to point out that I don't send my child into the garden to forage for bugs but he has been brought up along side a dog so he is a bit feral.--

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 24/01/2018 22:03

Yes. Cat eats spiders. Sometimes sicks them up too and it smells vile.

I also had a toddler who ate spiders - definitely copying the cat. That toddler grew into an incredibly fussy eater. What's that all about?

RickOShay · 24/01/2018 22:19

And then they pooh pooh their cat food!

Oldraver · 25/01/2018 16:22

A spider was Ernies first kill when he first came to us. He loved flies as well and that's the first time we heard a cat 'chatter' at prey.

He will still catch them if he can as he is too slow to catch birds (thank god) or mice

He was 2 months here

Ours used to (but leave a little bouquet of legs for us) but now are too old and dignified to bother. I spend the whole summer wishing them back to their fly-catching kittenhoods, but they have no longer have any interest in foraged food and prefer processed crap.
