Getting upset in advance

I lovely cat is nearly 19 had him for about 16 years he was a rescue but they said he was 10 when see got him, which was obv wrong!
We Think he's about to turn 19, I'm just so worried about anything happening to him, I love him so much he's not normal he just loves cuddles has been there through so much with me, he has a thyroid issues but it's well managed and vet says he's fine and bloods are fine, just the slightest sneeze or loss of weight and I panic! How can I stop ? My hubby says I'm a crazy cat lady, he loves him aswell and admits he's one of Kind, but I'm getting sad in advance, I'm pregnant so maybe it's my hormones making me worse

Hand hold. I have no useful words to help you with how you are feeling but didn’t just want to pass by. Your cat is a big part of your family and it will be hard to see him pass on but perhaps focus on how bloody lovely he is right now.

I so know how you're feeling bigupapple. I've had many a time when the sudden realisation of losing them has overwhelmed me. I had 2 cats who lived very long lives and they were so special to me that the thought of losing them was devastating. I think everyone who has pets experiences this. Love and cherish him now, as you do and when he is gone, (don't think about that now), you'll always have lovely memories of him.

I'm the same. One of mine has cardiomyopathy so don't know how long I'll have her for. And almost lost her sister last year to pancreatitis.

Old girl was 20 and a bit, to be objective, she was always a bad tempered cantankerous little madam, but I loved her and she was just.... always there. A furry malevolent presence in the room. She went downhill very quickly, I'd assumed at that she was immortal at that point.
Current cat is a glorious, friendly creature, only about 3 years old and I already worry about how I'll cope ( morbid).

There's nothing wrong with him health wise by the way!

It IS painful to think about. It's painful to think about anyone you love dying.

Just make sure you have lots of lovely time with him.

I went to the emergency vet a year ago, fully prepared to have do PTS. It was terrible but I really did find the knowledge that she knew she was loved and I had given her a happy last year a huge comfort and that I would be able to cope with it. By some miracle though, she pulled through.
