Worms and fleas prevention!

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this. I'm about to adopt two young rescue cats (a girl and a boy) and am wondering how often I need to treat them for worms and fleas.

Do other cat owners recommend using the pill or the drops - and are there any particular brands that you've found to be most effective? My two are about 10 months old and nervous around people.

Fleas generally every month with prescription spot on-Stronghold or Advocate. Worm tablet every 3 months, we used Milbemax with our old girl; new boy has been given Droncit by CP (I think it is the same as Drontal but not 100%).
Do not use any Bob Martin products you buy in the supermarket, they have caused poisoning and they don't work. Frontline flea treatment doesn't work anymore.
The rescue can advise you as can your vet.

I use Advantage spot-on for fleas roughly every month, it's the only reliably effective non-prescription flea spot-on, and Drontal tablets for worming because they are cheap and they work. Make sure whatever wormer you use covers round- and tape-worms, as not all do.

I use bravecto for fleas and ticks, it's 3 monthly which fits nicely with three monthly worming

Profender as a worming treatment - it covers hookworm, roundworm and tapeworm. It's a spot-on treatment which is much preferred for my cat as he won't take tablets. Once you've had it from a vet as a prescription once, you shouldn't need to take the cat back each time you need a repeat.
