I'm looking for new rugs (decorating). I have wooden floors so need very large rugs to cover them so quite an expense.

I also have a lovely old girl who loves nothing more than to sharpen her claws on all my existing rugs and carpets - especially the stairs! She goes mad on there.

Can anyone recommend a type of rug that won't show pulls and won't have bald spots once madam gets her claws into them for a few months.

I don’t think there is such a material. It might be easier to try and make her stop doing it and that’s hard enough. Maybe deep pile? My cat doesn’t like deep pile soft type rugs, it’s like watching her walk through a puddle.

I have a "Teddy Bear" rug from Dunelm. Leroy seems quite pleased with it and hasn't trashed it yet.

Ah! Just looked at 'teddy bear' and 'deep soft pile' rugs and I can see why they wouldn't like them - nothing to grab hold of!

Mm... thanks. I think that's the way to go. I only hope she doesn't move onto my sofas...

Can you give her a scratching post with catnip and encourage her to use that ? My cat like a coir doormat and a scratch post for her claws but doesn't touch anything else it just shouldn't be allowed and discouraged
