Cat licking the painted wall

Does anyone's cat do this, is it something I should worry about? I only noticed today as I caught her in the act but she must have been doing it for a while as there is a patch of white wall where she was licking (the walls are light cream). I Google it and it suggests a mineral or vitamin missing from her diet but she is drinking and eating as normal. She is very fussy food wise and prefers dry food although she does get a pouch of wet food daily. I will speak with the vet tomorrow but just wondered if it is something of concern. She is a 5 year old rescue and we only had her 6 months, never had cats before so still getting used to their little ways.

Sorry for double post, not sure what happened there.

Is she a pedigree? Our vet said that pedigree cats ( and maybe others) often have pica where they lick or suck non food items.

Thank you for replying. No pedigree, she is a tortie tabby. Very soft but short hair in excellent condition. I spoke to the vet and as she does not have any other symptoms he just things it is one of those things. She is due her annual check up in a few weeks so unless something else comes up we will wait until then to take her in. Don't want her to have blood tests unless needed to avoid unnecessary stress.

Probably not much help but have copied this:

The reason for this unusual habit is likely a medical or behavioral issue, and the best way to determine which is with a trip to the vet. Medical Conditions: Cats have been shown to lick non-food items due to a deficiency in their diet. Diets low in iron, and other essential nutrients may lead to cat anemia.

Mine is doing this too. Licking the paint and biting the corner of the walls . I read something about it being attention seeking too or boredom.
