Recommendations for cat insurance for older cats?

Hi. I have inherited 2 older cats (about 14 years old). Insurance was stoppped for the cats due to cost by previous owner. I am now paying for hyper thyroid treatment of one cat and the vet suggested I get insurance in place for the other one on the basis he is currently healthy and even consider insuring the one with hyper thyroidism for any other condition that may occur (obviously the hyper thyroidism would not be covered as existing condition).

Have just about got my head around different types of insurance and whole of life must be best though not sure how practical that is for old cat but seems better than one that only pays for 12 months worth of treatment. Does anyone insure an older cat and recommend their insurer - I really can't afford the £80 per month per cat being asked by some of them! Thanks very much.
