I got a rescue cat just under a year ago shes 3/4 and shes big, has a round belly that hangs down.. I feed her a wet pouch twice a day and did leave biscuits out and top them up as and when but have stopped those now and dont give her any treats. She only goes out for 5 mins at a time so I doubt shes being fed as we can always see her in the garden at the front or back of the house

Are some cats prone to being bigger than others ? Is there any food we should put her on to keep her weight in check ? My last cat was only little and we could feed her treats all the time and it never altered her weight

Two pouches a day is hardly anything. She should really be losing weight on that. Biscuits are often a problem for cats prone to weight gain, but as you've stopped those now I really don't know what the answer is.

My dcat has royal canin dry food . The vet told me to feed her 25% less than the recommended portion size to help her lose weight . So instead of 30g twice a day I feed her 23g and weigh it out into freezer bags every few days for convenience. She lost weight gradually over about 4 months and now her weight is stable

I would recommend you speak to the vet for advice

The royal canin Hills etc dry foods are good as you can get neutered cat, hungry cat fuller for longer options. They are also better long term for their teeth

Get a laser pen and toys and actively get her to play, we had to do this with my old cat when we got him as he was a chunky monkey
