Litter tray help!

A couple of weeks before Christmas we got a rescue kitten. She was 10 weeks old and had been fostered.
When we got her home I let her find her feet a bit and then I showed her the litter tray (and plonked her in it so she was sure!) but as yet she has never used it!
She does her business anywhere but in the tray. I've seen her standing in the tray but doesn't do anything in it.
She was totally litter trained when she arrived - what can I do to encourage her to go back to using the tray again??!?

Try a different type of litter. She may be fussy

it is probably the litter you are using. one of mine only likes the more expensive non clumping types...anything else and she pees in the shower tray or the hand basin, so that's nice. Hmm

also some cats like a pee tray and a poo tray....Msfussypants really only likes to use her tray for peeing....she mostly goes out to the garden for anything else weather permitting

I did wonder if it was the actual litter- she had the wood pellets one when in foster care but we have the expensive non clumping stuff.
She's not allowed out yet (want to get her spayed first as we've loads of tom cats around)
I guess it's off to the shops tomorrow to get some of the wood stuff!

If you want to change litter then do it gradually by mixing in small amounts of new stuff with the old
