Old boy-I'm a bit worried.

So Fuckery cat is about 14, house cat since a car accident several years ago. Happy to plod between food bowl, sofa (Dh's knee) and occasional look out back door. Since Christmas he's not been himself, doesn't want to sit on dh, not very hungry. The only thing that has changed is that ds accidentally shut him outside overnight, not the really freezing nights, but still bloody cold. Since then he's just not been right, just sleeps on sofa. Taking him to vets tuesday, but it doesn't look good does it?

Don't panic! It could be teeth. He might have been bitten. Any sign of an abscess at all? He may have had a right old time and be sleeping it off or he may be sulking.
Worth checking out but may not be as bad as you fear.

We had a week or so of this about 2 months ago from our 11 year old diva. We were very worried that she wasn’t eating and didn’t want to go out at all (she usually has a daily perambulation around the back garden). She also didn’t want to get in the sofa and we think that her arthritis in her hip was playing up. She perked up eventually and we have been giving her a supplement ever since.

Nope, no bites or abscesses. He's followed me into kitchen had some licky lix and water and has curled up in front of heater.

Our old girl seemed out of sorts. Was arthritis then thyroid issue. Both completely treatable. Good luck with the vet.

They are a worry aren't they. You are doing the right thing by taking him to the vets. 14 isn't that old Op. I've had cats who lived until they were 19 and my sister had a cat who lived until it was 23! Hope your boy is ok.

My cat (6 not old) was very very ill the other day, she wouldn't move, was hissing, no food or water, I rushed her to the vets and she even went back in the box rather than been seen or touched. The vet didn't know what was wrong so gave her a pain killer injection and anti inflammatory. About 30 minutes later she ate and was back to her old self! Never been ill again! Very weird!

Could be thyroid, could be an abscess that hasn't come up yet, could be old age.

Well he seems to be back on track-wingeing at me for grub, sleeping on ds, nosing round the bacon sarnies.

That's good to hear, when you think about the gross stuff they eat some of it must make them off colour for a few days!

Vet's appointment is a good move, see what they say, but for the time being at least he's perked up.

I got him the lick lix to tempt him. He's now scrounging cheese and butter off D(I hate this cat)H, the man who puts extra butter in his crumpets for him to lick off his plate.
I suspect he may have lost a tooth. He's refusing chunky food but likes the moussey types.

How is he now? Still OK I hope?
