Have decided to treat the alpacats to a new cat tree scratch post this year because the old one is about to buckle under the weight!

Jeffcat likes to be high up so he can look down upon us all. Mattcat likes to sleep on a flat fluffy surface and loves sitting in a box. They both like to scratch.

Where would you get the Mighty Oak of cat trees? Ideally somewhere that can deliver..

Hi Alpaca. Don't have a photo but try Amerkat cat trees. They're solid wood and heavy duty sisal rope in the posts. We have two sturdy Norwegian Forest Cats who scratch/play/sleep on theirs daily. Model we have has two sleeping hammocks, platforms and cat cave. Height is 7.5 feet so Jeffcat could survey his kingdom and subjects perfectly.
Not the cheapest but 8 years of hard use and no problems or wear at all.

Vesper cat trees! Very stylish and robust.

dementedpixie · 30/12/2017 22:16

Thank you! Super speedy responses.

Trash, I'm going to need several pictures of your NFCs I'm afraid ;)
I have informed DH that our next cats will be that breed.

NFCs are adorable. Very sweet natured, learn quickly and quite 'doggy'. Love to keep you company and come when called.
Cutest thing ever is the chirruping noise they make to communicate.
Hopefully photos are here. 2nd time trying!

Got this from Kalven Cat trees. At a show. Its been a big success. Both girls climb on it. Only Fatty would climb on the old one. You can just get new bits when they wear out. So should last years.

I’ve got a Kalven as well it’s an outdoor one but stays in the hall. I like the fact that you don’t have to put anything together and they are very solid —and expensive—. The vesper ones come up in tk Maxx online quite abit.

AlpacaPicnic · 31/12/2017 09:40

Thank you Trash! And thank you toddler and murinae as well, always love seeing pictures of beautiful cats!

Thank you Each for the tip about TK maxx, I love browsing there anyway but never thought about them for cat trees!

I had a small round on from TKK, it lasted ages until they trashed it. Think it was a Rosewood Brand. My two also have a large one from
Pets at home, which is now in the spare room as the Kalven one fits better.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/12/2017 20:33

I’m mean, he’s only got a cheap scratching post!

EachandEveryone · 01/01/2018 02:24

There’s a Kalven one for £230 it says you have to assemble it though so it’s put me off

Toddlerteaplease · 01/01/2018 09:39

They are really easy to assemble. Mine was fully assembled when I bought it, but they took it apart to make it easier to transport. (Which was a nightmare carrying it to the car park!) all the pieces are replaceable, so it will last.

Lillagroda · 01/01/2018 09:45

We have this, from Happypet. It’s a monster but much loved.

Got this one from zooplus and it was about £70 - it's very popular.

Kalven is the way to go, i am on my second in 15yrs, they are brilliant, and very hardwearing. Ones from zooplus, pet shops etc are crap in comparison and last no time at all. Mine is pictured, they didn't have exactly what i wanted this time,so they made a custom one and you can also buy replacement posts. Very easy to assemble.

I want one that will exercise them as im in a flat they dont go out that much in this weather. Yours looks lovely i just hope they would carry it up the stairs for me!

NoSquirrels · 01/01/2018 20:24

We’ve got the one purple linked from zooplus. I’m happy with it, and BoyCat enjoys leaping down on us from a great height...

Toddlerteaplease · 01/01/2018 21:49

Kalven one's are solid wood, not fibre board. Really pleased with mine.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/01/2018 21:50

I spent an hour and a half agonising over which design to buy from Kalven. I really liked all of them.

EachandEveryone · 01/01/2018 22:42

Yes I don’t want to encourage too much snoozing they have enough places to do that!
