Out of hours treatment

Does your vet do their own out of hours treatment? Ours used to, but now uses Vets Now. The vet we saw yesterday about Harry's leg was fine, but I'd be happier if they'd had his notes as I think he might have been better with a couple of days of loxicom, which the duty vet couldn't give him because of his kidneys.

I'm not sure if that's a reason to change vets though, as I'm hoping not to be dashing off again in a hurry!

I think ours uses something like that. It's a commercial operation & needs to run economically at the end of the day.

Ours has a partnership with an out-of-hours vet (a 20 min drive away, though). If your cat needs planned OOH treatment, they'll email over the notes and phone them if necessary to update them,

Ours does. It's a hospital. It's one of the reasons we chose it. Hope he's ok.

Snorg went to vets now when she had pancreatitis, my normal vet doesn't do 24 hour inpatient care so I transferred her to a local animal hospital who did. She was there a week and they were amazing. I decided not to use vets now again so got them both registered with the hospital. Good job I did as Fatty soon became a familiar face!

Vets now handed over to pdsa in the day which I wasn't keen on. Plus I had to visit very early in the mornings it wasn't logistically practical even though it's very close to my house.

I’m umming and aahing whether to move now! When he broke his jaw he was kept in and although there wasn’t a vet onsite, one of the nurses went in and checked him. I need to know what would happen now so I think I’ll ask when I ring about his teeth on Wednesday.

Vets Now were fine but the vet was asking me questions that affected his treatment but I didn’t know the answer to. He’s none the worse for it though, he’s curled up against my legs on the recliner!
