Have just got a cat from cat protection 12.5 years old indoor cat .. Supposed to be very timid ..Poor cat pop and weed on way home so ran out of cage on opening .. Found a corner for 10 minutes .. found food ate it and explored ..came out for cuddle and climbing everywhere .. when I left room.climbed onto sofa .. Question how soon can I start trying to swap her to different food and cat litter aware to mix together first

If s/he settles in one place provide litter tray and food in nearby vicinity but a reasonable distance apart and just ignore them for a few days just cleaning tray and topping up food/water. Let him/her come out and explore in their own time. Confidence training can take time but worthwhile

Sorry hit post too soon

I’d give it a couple of weeks before making any changes. Cat tummies react to stress so let cat begin to feel comfortable with new surroundings before making changes

She's lovely! I hope you have many happy years together. I agree to wait at least two weeks before making changes; longer if you have any reason to think she isn't settled.

Firstly good on you for adopting an older cat!
When you change food, do it gradually. Have to ask why do you want to change? With litter you can mix but again leave it for a while. You could also put down 2 trays. If she's come from CP the default litter they use is the woodpellet litter (I volunteer for CP) which is less smelly than the likes of Catsan.

Looks like she's going to settle in well! Definitely give it a good couple of weeks before making changes, and make the changes slowly.

Beautiful pusscat 😻.

Its money really and ease of shopping ..she is on Felix senior and biscuits that are quite expensive compared to others .. I shop at aldi and there food was over _(£1.30/ cheaper for pouches and a lot cheaper for dry.. Yes its wood pellet for litter tray

Aww how lovely, finally a post to cheer me up. Thanks for adopting her, elderly cats and black cats are always overlooked and forgotten about. It personally makes me love them even more. She is lovely and so are you :)

Well done for adopting an older cat OP Smile

She's a lucky girl x

What a lovely girl. Introduce the food you want to swap to gradually. I'd say start doing it straight away, if you do it slowly. She's adjusting to so many things already.
