Does anyone have an automatic litter tray? The kinds that remove the poo themselves? I’m interested to know if they are any good.

We have never had one because I'd be worried that it might go off while the cat is in there.

Possibly recent models have a failsafe to prevent this, e.g. weight/pressure sensor.

AVOID
We had a cat genie - little tiny bits of poo got left behind and the whole house then smelt like burning shit during the drying cycle. It was also loud!
We use clumping litter now and keep little poo bags next to the tray and scoop whenever we see anything in there. Only takes a second, and best of all doesn't smell half as bad.
The rules about number of litter trays also apply to these awful things so two cats = 3 awful machines.

Thank you. I was wondering how it would work if a cat had slightly squishy poo, it must get caught? And there quite often smaller bits when I am scooping that I could see would be missed.

I think I will stick to the traditional tray and my wood litter.
