Is post spay vet check necessary/usual?

Just wondering if I really need to take my cats to their post spay check? They were spayed on Friday and my vets want to see them 3 days after and then 10 days after.

The thing is it is a real mission taking them, they get really distressed and it's usually through rush hour traffic so they are in their baskets a while. I have no concerns about them as they seem to be healing really well.

Are 2 post op checks at the vets totally necessary?

Would you be certain that you would know the signs of an infected wound or a muscle herniation? These are uncommon, but are the reasons we do post checks.

No I wouldn't - thanks for your reply. I guess I don't remember having post op check with previous pets and I wasn't sure how necessary they were. But I'm sure there is a valid reason for them..

Mine have just been done and I was told I didn't need to go back
