Old kitty

Hi - my rescue cat is our little read rotund fluffy moggy. Had him 10 years, adored and well looked after
His legs seem a little less strong and he still jumps up 6 foot fences with 'grace' no finesse as per our two year old cat have you guys with older cats (thought to be 18-24 months when we got him) seem a similar thing?
He's absolutely fine, no pain or discomfort and last month had his bloods taken before an op to sort his bad tooth and he was fine then and recovered perfectly. He's a large frame cat and healthy weight but vet doesn't think unhealthy at all.
He's currently tearing around the house keeping up with the 2 year old cat and play fighting like a boss cat lol .... guess it's just old age setting in like me! any experiences from you guys?

My 14 year old girl doesn't really jump anymore but she ll dash up and down our hallway with the kitten like she's ten years younger. She's slowing down a bit but still in good health. She spends more time sleeping these days

Yes, they do slow down a lot, but some can still be quite spritely in their forage. My old cats who've now gone, were active til very close to the end, but couldn't jump very well. I gave them a daily pain killer for arthritis, as recommended by the vet, just to make it a bit easier for them. My older cat now takes a painkiller everyday for joint pain, as vet says that cats who live in colder climates, suffer from joint pain from around the age of 5.

At 20 my old girl flopped and scrambled, rather than jumped, but she was pretty lively up until 16 or 17.

I have a 13 year old who doesn't jump much any more. She's as quick and dainty on her feet as she ever was otherwise, just tends to opt for smaller, easier jumps. She sleeps a lot more too.

my cat at 14 was still getting stuck on the neighbours shed and exploring.

he has slowed down due to his arthritis, and more dramatically this year (now age 19) due to his failing eyesight and as he is no longer allowed the metacam due to kidney damage.

He is still as curious and a character as ever...

My old lady is 15 and she scrambles rather than jumps now but she's still pretty agile when she feels like playing with her catnip toys. She doesn't run up and down the stairs like she used to, takes them very steadily, if she could hold onto a bannister she would!

Sounds like my Sunny cat is just getting a bit old
