Cat flap frozen shut

When I woke this morning and our cat Bella wasn't in her usual spot I thought it was strange then picked up my phone and saw it was -7 so went and checked and the cat flap was frozen shut Shock

Does anyone know what I could put on it to stop it freezing that's safe?

Vodka or whisky?

Had she been out and not able to get back in?

Lock cat in the house?

Just lock the cat flap at night and keep her in.

Yes she had been out but I'm not sure for how long :/ if I lock it at night will I need to get a litter tray in case she needs out? She always has access to the outdoors so not sure if she would let us know if she wanted out...do cats do this?

No cats don't do that. And yes you would need a litter tray. It's always a good idea anyway as sometimes cats don't want to go out.

Mines locked in the utility room overnight with all the essentials, he doesn't seem to mind.

We've tried him sleeping on our bed but he gets up at 4am & it's one up all up in this house.
