Moved house and cat escaped!

Hi we're just in the middle of moving house. My dp took the cats over to the new house in separate carriers, got them out, put them on the floor outside whilst shutting the van and obviously hadn't properly secured one of the carriers and one escaped! What can we do?? We've left the carrier in the garden with treats in it hoping she'll smell something familiar. But is all hope gone? She's somewhere totally new and unfamiliar, hate the thought of her feeling scared hiding somewhere. She's normally the chilled out, confident one, it's the other one that's skittish! She's micro chipped.

My cat escaped minutes after arriving at our new house. Clearly my " no one open the door" was completely ignored! It was pitch black. She was back in quite quickly after some calling and tempting with tuna

That's awful. It's good that she's normally confident. That should help. The only thing you can is posters and leafleting. That normally works well. Also leave food in your front garden (assuming that's where she went missing from) all the time for at least three weeks.

What a shame, I really hope you find her. Do you have any blankets, clothes or bedding from your old house which you could hang outside to give a scent of home for her to follow? Also, if you hoovered the old house before leaving it, you could scatter the dust outside the new house as she might be able to smell it?

Mine did the same, he was gone for a week then came back in one night like nothing had happened

We left food in front and back gardens (and caught another cat eating it!) And her favourite pillows. Luckily we've just found her!! She's not very happy after her traumatic experience but we're so glad she's home! She's currently meowing very indignantly from behind the sofa.

Glad the cheeky fur ball is back! Time for a bag of dreamies and some cuddles I think! 😁

What a relief!
