It was all based on a lie (lighthearted)

Since getting my gorgeous tabby cat as a 8 week old kitten we have had a special bond, she sleeps all cuddled in to me every single night and won’t sleep anywhere else because she wuvs me. Or so I thought.

We’ve just bought our brood one of those little igloo beds and she won’t get out of it for love nor dreamie, two nights in a row she has pied me to sleep in it.

Could it be possible she only loved me for my warmth all along? Shock

She’s training you.

acatcalledjohn · 16/11/2017 21:45

She uses the bed instead of the box it came in? Shock

Wolfiefan · 16/11/2017 21:49

I'm sorry but that's not a cat. No self respecting cat uses a bed that was bought for them to sleep in.
That's covered in "Being a cat 101"
So if it's not a cat then what IS it?!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2017 22:32

Mine have five beds. And they are all used. However they are bit interested in boxes. I’m not entirely sure there are cats at all!

Sentientcushion · 16/11/2017 22:37

Oh I should have mentioned we bought the bed for the new kitten, obviously the kitten hasn’t been allowed anywhere near it.
The kitten sleeps on my husband and my big fat Tom sleeps in a little cave he makes himself between the curtain and the curtain liner on the windowsill.

I also realise that in my OP it sounds like she’s still a kitten, she’s not she’s five and has never spent a night apart from me except when I’ve been on holiday.
Even when I had a vomiting bug and slept on the sofa she slept on the sofa with me, but I see now it’s just because I’m the warmest one.

There’s something about Tipis/igloos. Smile (Thank Goodness.)

Don’t worry - it’s not just because you were warm. She just likes to sleep in it. Has her behaviour changed in any other way?

cozietoesie · 17/11/2017 00:40

PS - if she were with you, would she have to sleep near the new kitten?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 17/11/2017 09:33

It's only because you bought it for the kitten. Once she's happy that the kitten has the message it's actually hers she'll be back with you, with the odd night in the igloo just to make sure the message sticks.

cozietoesie · 17/11/2017 11:26

I agree. Smile

TonicAndTonic · 17/11/2017 13:54

I'm impressed. Mine never once touched his igloo! It was the single biggest failure we had in terms of things we bought for him as a kitten.

But yes, they love you more when they are cold and you are warm I'm afraid! The easiest way to turn my cat from a psycho into a lap cat is to drop the temp on the thermostat by a degree or two...

Highly skilled messing with your mind. I applaud you being owned by such a clever one.
