Tiny (dead?) tick, huge lump

Hello
I've just removed a really tiny (not engorged at all) tick from kittys head. I couldn't see a tick at first, just a large bump with what looked liked crusted blood on it, and a dark pinnacle. I couldn't get the tick remover under the crusted edges, but moved it to the pinnacle and a tiny tick came away, but wasn't moving at all. Kitty has been left with a largish bump poking out of his fur. I've only taken one tick off before and it was fat and wriggling, and it did leave a bit of a bump. I don't know if there could be infection there (he didn't seem to be in pain) or why the tick would be dead (kitty hasn't been treated). It wasn't there yesterday.Any ideas? Thanks

One of my cats always comes up in a huge lump when you remove ticks. I even took her to the vet earlier in the year when she had a huge lump that looked like a volcano - but he said that there was no sign of infection and to leave it alone. It took ages to disappear (almost 4 weeks) but she was fine. I think she must have some sort of sensitivity/allergy to ticks

I guess it's similar to how some people get nasty insect bites but others get bitten but don't have the big reaction

I'd make sure that the bite is clean (warm water on cotton wool) to try to prevent infection

Thank you. Yes good point about a possible allergy and good idea to clean it - I have given it a good rub with some hibiscrub the vet gave me ages ago, he was mightily fed up with me rubbing that on his bonce! So hopefully all fine.
Thanks again
