Flea treatment

Not the most exciting question but which flea treatment would you recommend?
We’re currently using Spot On but the poor kitty is constantly scratching. Also my DH has quite a few flea bites on his feet.

I’m going to spray the bedroom and change bedsheets today and then carry on room by room.

What spot on is it? I get advocate from the vet. Supermarket ones at5e said not to work well e.g. frontline, Bob Martin, etc
