Hot water bottle for elderly cat?

I have a very old (incredibly needy!) day. She was a rescue and we’ve had her for 19 years, so she’s doing well. She’s happy but is tiny and all skin and bones-there is nothing to her, really. She adores warmth and likes nothing better than being asleep touching a radiator or on a lap, neither of which is possible all of the time. Our house is also freezing most of the day!

Is there any reason why I can’t use a hot water bottle under a blanket for her? I tried wheat bag last night but she jar kept sniffing the air and giving my dirty looks (they do smell weird!) so that wasn’t a success.

Or any other ideas welcome?!

I picked up a very elderly stray who liked sleeping on a hot water bottle with a woolly cover.

You could also ask a local granny if they'd knit a catty sweater.

This sounds just like my cat who likes nothing better than sleeping on the sky box

She’s rejected all attempts at a hot water bottle so in recently bought a heated pet bed from Amazon. This way I can put her favourite blanket on it and keep some familiarity.

I wouldn’t leave it switched on whilst she is alone/ unsupervised but she seems to enjoy it

Try a heated whelping pad. Or one of the pet pads you heat in the microwave.

I've done this for a young cat who was kicked out of his home he couldn't live in mine my cats wouldn't let him so he slept outside in a cupboard on a hot water bottle he loved it

Try a ‘snugglesafe’, they are heated in the microwave but never get hot enough to scald, and then stay warm for several hours.

My cats are also extremely partial to heated throws!

I had a plug in heat pad for my old girl, which seemed to help.
If you use a hot water bottle, wrap it well.

We bought a heated pad for our now deceased geriatric dog a few years ago. I don't know exactly how it works but it's cool to the touch until they actually lay on it!
