DCat will only eat tuna

DCat is the most picky eater
He will only ever eat fish preferably tuna

I'm worried about him just eating tuna
Luckily he will eat chicken dry food but wet food is strictly fish only

Any tips for dealing with this? I can't keep buying encore cat food at 90p a pouch

I recently made the switch to dry, she wasn't happy but eventually hunger got better of her

And I'm pretty sure she has a second family, you can literally time her for going out and coming back. Must have us on a rota

I think a tuna diet is meant to cause kidney problems. Gradual switch over? I don't know, he looks persistent.....

He will if he's hungry!! We had a dog like this and eventually just stopped pandering to him...a day and half later he became very fond of his dry food!

The Happy Kitty Company website do wet food that can't be found in supermarkets, they have a few different brands most of which have fishy flavours and they'll do you a custom sample pack so you're not buying big tins. We had to make the switch to wet food from dry after MistoffeleesCat had a bad water infection and he was very fussy but now eats all sorts from there (and peas randomly!?)

Mistof ooh thank you for the tip!! I will try that.. I have stacks of cat food lying around that he just wouldn't eat! I keep buying different brands and varieties but it's always tuna for him. Thinking of donating it to a shelter

I was told that, providing it's cat food and not human tuna, it was ok to feed Harry tuna all the time if he wanted it. We had to switch him from dry to wet food when he broke his jaw and Wainwrights tuna was all he would eat.

While I know some cats will eat if they're hungry, mine definitely won't so we do have to pander to his every whim.

Try putting lik e Lix on other flavours.Is it complete cat food? It wouldn’t bother me. Mine have recently done the same thing so I’m buying them Sainsbury’s taste the difference complete fish flavours. They have 80% chicken in their dry and take water so I’m not stressing. I’m already grey enough to put up a fight

i understood fish should not be a regular part of cats diet. fish is fish whether within a cat food or fresh surely? its still fish even if its been processed and not so fresh anymore?

many dcats will not easily adjust to a different food, they are like rats in that respect there's a word for it that I can't recall now, mixing food seems best the one they like with one notsomuch.

don't leave them starve hoping they will take whatever is given because they can crash into starvation mode and then won't eat at all! this can happen very quickly.

Ours has normal tuna every other day (small tin in spring water) and dry cat food rest of time and vet said that was fine and never had any problems and she's 13. One time she was slightly overweight when she went up to large tins so he told us to cut back as it was making her fat but generally she's been thin. She won't eat wet cat food and only one type of dry cat food. She's had a very bad reaction when the dry food recipe changed by Whiskas but did manage to find a second dry food she would eat. She would love a 100 percent tuna diet but vet won't allow it, I think he recommended dry as well, maybe for teeth partly as well as to balance the diet.

I would go with what your vet says and I wouldn't give only tuna.

My husband takes the cat to the vet so he may not realise its normal tuna but she's going fine at 13, well actually she's curled up on the bed most of the time but she's never been ill, just can't be bothered to move.

The Tesco finest fish pouches are good and work out cheaper. There's tuna and sardine pouches in them and I think they are about £3.50 for 6. Mine doesn't mind a meaty pouch as long as it's only every other day with fish ones in between but she does show a preference for fishy varieties.
