We were packing the van to move house and she must have bolted out the door at some point. Have looked for her all afternoon and she's no where to be seen. She's never been outside before, I'm so worried about her.
No real reason for this post I'm just so sad. Please tell me a story of finding a lost cat to give me hope!

My indoor Persian got out when I popped out to the car once. I didn’t realise and went out. Came home 6 hours later and it took me a while to realise she was missing. I was frantic. As she’s really thick and not used to being out the front. Fortunately my neighbour had seen her a few hours previously hiding between his bins. She was still there. Had obviously decided she didn’t like the outside! I rattled the treats, which never fails and she would have heard me calling her, but wouldn’t come to me. Fingers crossed yours hasn’t gone far either.

Any news?

pterobore · 07/10/2017 09:03

This happened to me about two years ago and he found his way home. I think having other cats helped so if you can put things outside your house that smell like the inside of your house that could help

paddypants13 · 07/10/2017 09:14

Our cat used to be an indoor cat before we moved to this house, she escaped a few times but always came back quickly. Fingers crossed for you. x

Crookshanks24 · 07/10/2017 09:56

This happened to me- pop the litter tray outside, they can smell their own scent and they come back, it worked for my deaf and blind house cat! Good luck xx

thecatneuterer · 07/10/2017 10:12

So have you actually moved house? As that will of course be a problem. Is she neutered?

GriefLeavesItsMark · 07/10/2017 14:34

A few years ago a cat turned up in a colleague's garden. Healthy, friendly and trying to get in. Shooed away, but returned several times over the next few days.

Eventually my colleague captured cat and took it to the vets for scanning. it turned out cat had travelled, no idea how, from a city about 40 miles away. Was reunited to it's very relieved owners.

Allergictoironing · 07/10/2017 15:59

Is she microchipped?

Smallpotatolove · 07/10/2017 22:14

Yes microchipped but no sign of her so far. Yes we've already moved so cant leave stuff outside. Friends went looking for us today and put posters up

One of mine also went missing as I was moving house. I went back to my old house later that evening, looked through the window and there he was sitting in my old kitchen looking bewildered (he gone back in through the cat flap). I managed to persuade him out and bundle him into the car to move into his new home !

Cats are very good at orientating themselves so I think you might find she has gone back to the house. Hope she turns up safely soon

ElizabethShaw · 08/10/2017 08:34

Did she definitely get out? Any chance the packing up freaked her out and she is hiding under the bath or something?

Crookshanks24 · 08/10/2017 09:43

Any luck op? 😿

Smallpotatolove · 11/10/2017 12:36

Still no sign and no sightings either. Poor little thing I hope she's ok.

Could she be in season.

LucieLucie · 11/10/2017 18:58

Is it not more likely she’s jumped inside one of the boxes @Smallpotatolove?

I hope you manage to find her

Lily2007 · 12/10/2017 08:38

Our indoor cat went missing aged around one, she was terrified of gardens and first time she got out voluntarily was from our top floor bedroom to the roof. Shock

Couldn't find her for a couple of days but turned up with a neighbour who had kindly taken her in. She had tried the vet's but they said they would put her down in a week so the lady said no and took her home. Found her by knocking on doors but maybe also try local vets.

She gave birth a while later Shock

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/10/2017 08:44

What a worry,poor you.

Can you go and see the new owners of your house or ask neighbours to leave out food and keep an eye out?

overnightangel · 12/10/2017 13:24

Mine was a rescue that was an indoor cat. Got out thru open kitchen window, beside myself, eventually found by next door neighbour 3 days later hiding under decking. Never got out again!

DragonNoodleCake · 12/10/2017 23:33

Ours did this when we moved! Found him two days later hiding between the wall and fence in the old house back garden.
Brought him here, kept him in a few days and after trying out lots of hiding places (one amusing one was DD2's doll house still don't know how he got in there) he was fine! Hope you find your girl safe. Brew
