Does anyone else's DCat do this?

I heard a weird noise coming from the conservatory about half an hour ago and walked in to find my cat curled up on a chair, contentedly licking away at it. There was a huge wet patch around where she'd been licking so she'd obviously been doing it for a while.

Does this mean that she's formed a strong emotional attachment to that chair and is treating it like offspring? She is a spayed rescue but did have kittens when she was rescued, if that's relevant. She barely looked up even though she's normally all over me when I first come in. She's done this before a few times but I've never really thought much of it.

Any fellow cat-owners here with any idea why she does this?

I had one that used to suck on the tufts of my chunky wool rug. No idea why as she wasn't separated before 10 weeks!

They are funny creatures! Nothing has been spilt that she can still smell? Not accusing you of being mucky but cats sense of smell is good.
Ours doesn't so much now but she would spend ages grooming DP's arm never me, I get all the headbumps.

Fattycat absolutely lives the texture of towels. She doesn’t lick them but makes biscuits on them.

Mine will really shove her face into blankets and my dressing gown as though she's trying to burrow in as much as possible. And she tries to lick me but I don't like it! DP doesn't mind though lol

Mine has just been making biscuits on my dressing gown. She was suckling it at the same time. I now have a soggy patch on my dressing gown.

It's probably something to do with the texture. My last cat used to frantically lick the inside of carrier bags. Was quite embarrassing when she got inside the neighbour's shopping when she unloaded it from the car.

Thank you! I'm glad it's not just my cat!
