Removing cat pee from fabric <hopeful>

I moved house earlier this year and my neutered Tom was a little distressed with it all and took to spraying in random spots, including the back of my wardrobe. I've dug out a pair of velvet heels I'm planning on wearing to a black tie event next month, but he obviously got to them first Sad.

Is there any way at all I can remove or at least, lessen the smell without destroying the fabric?

Velvet is tricky, there is a spray in a blue bottle from pets at home that works but you have to saturate the fabric. Similarly bio washing powder in a strong solution works, but I think both of these would damage the velvet. Could you cover them with bicarb, leave for a while and then brush off? Are the shoes stained or just smelly? You could try suede shoe cleaner spray?

I use this and then machine wash- but obviously you can't wash the shoes- could just saturate them and stuff with newspaper to dry out?
This stuff is the only thing I've found that works reliably.

Thank you both, I'm going to try the bicarbonate option first as I have some in the house, if that doesn't work, I'm going in with the Simple Solution. They're not stained as far as I can see, just whiffy.

I'm hoping people will be talking to my head and not sniffing my feet!Grin

Simple solution urine destroyer. You can buy it in pets at home.

You can get anti cat pee stuff off Aamazon in big containers, it works a treat. Cat was ill a while ago and started to pee on the carpet and this stuff got it all out.

There is also a spray called Urine Off which can help if Simple Solution doesn't. Or wipe the shoes with dilute white vinegar, this might get rid of the smell

Thank you everyone for your kind replies, lots of options.
