So last night I was driving my friend back home when we spotted a cat lying in the middle of the road. I jumped out, wrapped the poor thing in my hoodie and rushed it to the emergency vet, but it was dead on arrival. We weren't sure when I picked him up if he was dead or not because his leg was twitching, and I thought I felt a feint heartbeat... My friend held and comforted him while I rushed us to the vet, so if he was alive he died surrounded by love.
He suffered a head trauma, and it's likely he was killed instantly or died very quickly afterwards. Thankfully he was microchipped and the owner collected the body today. She said he was her Prince and told him he couldn't stop her cuddling him now, cause he only used to be cuddled on his terms. She thanked me for getting him and looking after him.
I'm so upset. He wasn't my cat but I love cats so much and I can't bare to see them hurt :( I'm glad that I could help but I'm just so upset about it and for his owner. I was told by a passerby that a police car hit it while on a blue light, so I get they couldn't stop, and we got there pretty quickly afterwards (saw the police car pass us) but if we hadn't would anyone have moved him? Or would he end up worse?
I held my cat extra tight last night (she hated it).
I'm not really expecting any responses, just thought writing it would help.
