Affectionate cat?

I'm in Indonesia, there are a lot of stray/semiattached cats around. I'm not much of a cat person.

But there's a cat that's just turned up and sits on my balcony every morning. When I go out he comes and lies on my lap like a sleeping baby and also tries to lick my face.

I've made no attempt to bond with him he's just decided that. Also haven't fed him. I did offer him some cheese but he didn't seem interested.

Aren't cats supposed to be aloof?

Arthur is the beer Guinness. Martin McGuiness is .....ummm...not!

I don't think she'll offend anyone in Indonesia if she calls him Martin (or anywhere else for that matter).

Whoops wrong thread!!

Ok. I love cats. If op told me he was called Guinness or Martin, I would say "lovely". If op said "I named him after Martin McGuinness" I would leave immediately and never return. I've travelled the world. Who knows who you will meet in Indonesia.
I'm Irish descent. Which is not unusual among world travellers or those working outside Europe.
Why name him after a twat. Call him Martin by all means. It's a good name for a cat. Say it's because it calls to mind a twat if the same name and risk pissing people off.

Who knows who you will meet indeed? People who are that dramatic!

shhhfastasleep · 16/09/2017 20:16

Terrorism makes you feel that way. Or haven't you noticed.
This isn't the topic for that.

existentialmoment · 16/09/2017 20:28

I'm from Donegal, and no it really doesn't. Unless you'd walk out of someones house if they had a cat called Nelson, you're being ridiculous.

shhhfastasleep · 16/09/2017 20:29

We'll never meet so it doesn't matter.

pisacake · 17/09/2017 18:30

I was thinking also of the cocktail made of Guinness & Irish cream, hence a bit of a double connection....

But perhaps I'm just warped.

Maybe Rutger - Rutger Hauer did some Guinness ads -- he dressed all in black and as he had blonde hair he looked like a pint (oh he was a beautiful man!)
