New cat meowing at night

Me and dd recently adopted a shelter cat after our beloved boy cat passed a month ago.
I've been advised to keep her in for 3 weeks but since we have had her she has been meowing non stop through the night.
I appreciate it's only been a couple of nights but me and dd are not getting any sleep and I've got work so need some sleep.
She is free to come in our bedrooms at night but she doesn't want to.
I would of bought feliway but it's very expensive but if it happens tonight I will be forced to.
Any tips to calm her? I really don't think I can handle keeping her in for 3 weeks and I'm not used to this as my old cat was so easy I miss him so muchSad
The meow is such a pitiful one it really upsets me and dd.

Zylkene capsules in food, you break them & mix it in.

I'd confine her to one room & try to ignore, if she gets lost you'll feel awful.

Ours did this when we got her. I bought felliway and it helped.

I also left a radio on for her - radio 4 on very low so she maybe didn't feel alone.

And in my madder moments I got up at night time and sat with her and talked to her. Just for reassurance.

She was a feral when we got her and hadn't lived in a house since she was 4 months old. She's now 2/2 and a half. Has been with us for a year and is absolutely my best cat friend

Can you leave the t.v on?

She might just be a bit scared.

Does she sleep in her bed at all?

Maybe get a cardboard box and put one of your t.shirts in it for her to snuggle up to & feel secure.

Also try feeding her morning and just before you go to bed, so shes full up and hopefully she will sleep.

I will leave tv on for her tonight on low volume see if that helps.
She has a basket but prefers to sleep on a duvet cover under the table.
Just so tired need some sleep tonight!

I know its hard, but shes just unsure about life at the moment.

Has she been 'done'?

You do need proper sleep, hopefully she will get into the routine.

My DD & Dcat often have other ideas & wake me up whenever they want Hmm

yes she's been neutered wormed and had flea treatment.
She's had kittens but had finished feeding them and was homed separately now I feel bad maybe she's missing them?

Pet remedy is cheaper than feliway and I have found it more effective.
