Kittens - things to consider

Hi,

I posted some weeks ago about my old girl being PTS after illness.

It has been very odd being without her and doesn't a house feel quiet without a cat padding around?

We decided fairly quickly that we would get another cat. We have a decent sized house which backs onto countryside so feasibly we could get two. As I am at home at the moment on mat leave we also felt that it would be a good time to get kittens.

We are very lucky that two kittens have become available at the local rehoming centre so all going well we will bring them home on Tuesday.

Now we have committed i am having an attack of the fear.

We have a 4 year old who is very good with animals - she was extremely gentle and kind with poor old cat so I am not worried that she will be rough.

I have done some reading and have had cats and kittens before. What advice would you give me though? They are 9 weeks old

Best advice? Post lots of pics here and the advice will be flowing!
Getting kittens is SO exciting!! Let your dd help choose the names so she feels responsible right away!!
You have managed to parent a dd for 4 years!! Having kittens will be a breeze!
Least you aren't expected to bf them!!

That is a definite bonus! The little grabby paws of 12 week old dd are quite sharp enough thank you!

The little boy is black and the wee girl is tabby. The rehoming centre were initially unsure about hoping them together as they are mixed sex but were persuaded that we are responsible enough to have them neutered.

Dd has chosen names at the moment but she may swither. At the moment she has gone for a solidly middle class James Thomas McFluff and Sophie McFluff. Poor Sophie seems to be losing out on the middle name front.

We are planning on basing them in our utility room initially. It is really our porch so it is bright and airy. It isn't heated but we have an oil filled radiator and a heated mat should it get cold.

Photos will be available once we bring them home. Wee girl needs a final check from the vet before she can be released

Ahh, they are gorgeous! How are they settling in?

After a very nervous start they are making themselves quite at home!
