Hi, this is the first cat that I have had that's been pregnant. It's clear she got pregnant before she came to us as we haven't let her out. She gave birth to her first kitten a little over 45 minutes ago and nothing since.. she's still meowing, and licking her stomach vaginal area as she was before she had the first but doesn't seem to be contracting, it seems she has at least 2 more to come. Should I be worried? I know it says that it can take up to 6 hours to have them all and also that they may not give birth to them all on the same day.. is this right?? Should I be doing something?? Apart from what I've already mentioned she seems quite relaxed and is nursing the kitten as should be... should I just sit back and let nature do its thing.

Sorry as I've said it's my first time watching a cat give birth!

Sorry, didn't want to read and run. If you haven't already, I would contact a vet ASAP, especially if you have no experience of this. Flowers

Good luck OP. Hope it's all going smoothly.

Sorry I missed this OP, been dead to the world this morning!

I hope she's doing well, and you have kittens by now! Have a read of THIS thread for some excellent suggestion, tips etc.

Important things to remember is that a) offer mother food and water throughout, b) ensure all are safe and warm, c) they may not all survive, nothing you can do about that, and d) if she's really struggling get her to the vet!

She delivered another one at around 6 o'clock this morning. She's done amazing, she seems to be just taking it nice and slow.. no problems at all she has 2 healthy babies. I'm going to contact the vet this morning but I'm really happy, such an amazing feeling & watching her was just beautiful. Sorry I've only just replied I had to grab a few hours sleep so I wasn't a complete zombie today.

Gorgeous babies. Where did you get her from? Are you keeping all of them? It must be tempting.

WildCherryBlossom · 10/09/2017 12:12

She was my brothers girlfriends cat. They never got her spaded and let her out so she's already had one lot of litter this is her second. I've only had her 10 week so she was literally caught the day or day before I got her. I haven't let her out as we live on a busy main road but tbh it hasn't bothered her.
Still no more yet but the vet has just advised me to keep an eye on her, because she's so relaxed and tending to her babies fine she didn't see any kind of problem!

@EachandEveryone if she doesn't have any more I will be keeping them both yes, I don't see any reason to get rid of them both. If she does happen to have another 1 or two my next door neighbour has asked if she can have them so they will be going to a good home and the bonus is I can still see them!!

When did the vet say she can have the op how long do you wait? Is she your only? I'm not jealous really lying

DigestiveMuncher · 10/09/2017 15:59

If she doesn't give birth to anymore today or tonight I'm going to take her in first thing Monday morning and get her and her babies checked just in case. They say 6-8 weeks post birth before you can get them spaded just for the sake of the kittens so I shall be waiting till then rather then doing it any time soon. There's no major rush as she doesn't leave the house anyway but it's a safer bet in case she ever just runs out.

I have a feeling that she has had them now, I don't think there's anymore & if there is she is hiding it very well bless her! - amazing how In not even 24hrs I've 2 little kittens.. I didn't have a clue she was pregnant in the first place until she was in labour 🙈
