Where should new cat sleep?

Picking up our new rescue cat today Smile. It's been a long time since I had a new cat. I'll be keeping her in an enclosed room to start off with but am worried she won't want to be alone at night. Should I give her the option to wander upstairs?

Nothing better than waking up to a purry cat snuggled up to you, just saying Wink

Yes leave the door open to your room When she feels comfortable she will come and find you!

The joy of sleeping with my cat snuggled up next to me knows no bounds!

PebblesFlintstone · 01/09/2017 10:30

I'll let her wander then. I have just got past the stage of having to share my bed with a large wriggling child so a small, purring cat will be a delightful change!

If you think you can tell the cat where to sleep I think you should reconsider the whole idea...

The correct answer is wherever the cat wants to sleep.

I don't think you get to choose Grin

One of ours sleeps on the bed with us, the other would rather stay downstairs but he often wanders up when he hears us stirring and gets up for a cuddle and a fuss!

Bless. Here you are, thinking it's your decision. You shall soon me trained, human.

I wasn't going to tell her where to sleep, just wondered if she would feel happier at first in a small space or would prefer to wander. My last cat slept on my bed, but it's been over 10 years since I had a new one so I can't remember what we did for the first few days.
