Red around ears

Please could someone give me a clue what this might be. She has a single red patch in each ear. On the head ear join in the centre of her head and a third patch in the folds bit on the outside of her ear.

Thanks.

Is there any muck/brown stuff inside the ear? Does the cat have access to outside and if so, do you put sunblock on her ears?

Lancelottie · 29/08/2017 11:16

As she's a white cat, it's probably sunburn. We used to have one (black and white) that singed in the sun. Alternatively, has she picked up harvest mites and started scratching at them?

LivingInMidnight · 29/08/2017 13:07

I was also going to say sunburn. You'll have to start putting sun cream on her.

Harvest Mites?

Wallywobbles · 30/08/2017 08:23

I think it is probably sunburn as it doesn't scrape off and there's no black dirt or wax in her ears. Factor 50 it is.

I took in a white tortie stray a long time ago and her ears were so burnt they were black. She's the only cat I've ever had that never seemed to get enough of lying in the sun. All the other ones would move to the shade when they got too warm.
