Weeing on the rug

Bought a new rug a little while ago, not that expensive from Dunelm, it's a lovely cream colour. Or it was, it's now got yellow patches on it from the cat weeing on it. She stays in during the day and has a litter tray which she uses. Often I come home and there's another wet patch. It's got to the point where carpet cleaner isn't getting rid of the patches and it looks horrible.
Debating whether to get a new rug. Any tips on how to stop her weeing on it? Tried white pepper.
I don't blame her, it's a lovely soft rug, would prefer that to cat litter Grin
Picture of said cat attached :)

Peeing where they shouldn't is usually a sign of stress or illness.
Is the tray clean enough for her? Have you changed litter or the position of the tray?
Have you noticed any new cats in the area that she may be scared of?
If you can rule out those type of stress factors then maybe a quick trip to the vet is in order to rule out anything physical.

Try a solution of bio washing powder and water to clean the patches up. It neutralises the smell and makes it less likely that the cat will pee in the same place over and over.

You need enzymes to break down the odour molecules. Can you wash the rug in the machine?

I would get her a second tray and put it somewhere different.

As for the rug, can you soak it for 24 hours in bio washing liquid?

One of mine used to pee on the sofa. None of the sprays worked. The only thing that did was physically blocking access to hr favourite spot

Having the same problem here..only it's the bath mat.
Portia is well, happy, purring as usual and nothing in her life has changed. But if the bath mat is on the floor..she pees on it! She has even done it in front of me staring me out!
Obviously I can wash bath mats easily and do, but I have no idea how to stop her...she is the only one who uses a litter tray and it is always kept clean.
It's driving me nuts!

No stresses, changes etc. She went through a stage of weeing in the bath when we used the wood pellet type of litter, when we changed it back the grey normal type she stopped. Litter tray is clean, hasn't been moved. There's wee patches in the litter tray so she's choosing to go on the rug
