How could they do it to Harry (and me)?! Hi Life have discontinued the Tempt Me range. He has a tuna pouch for lunch and loves it. I've bought the last three boxes from Waitrose but now I start the long and difficult process of finding something he'll eat!

Oh no! That's all you need! Poor starving Harry and poor you. Complain loudlyGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/08/2017 19:06

Oh bugger. Amazon?. eBay? Pet supermarket?

Email the CEO to complain. I do it all the time.

Weedsnseeds1 · 25/08/2017 19:14

Aggggghhhh! I feel your pain. I would need to buy the recipe and commission a factory to make the stuff if Arden Grange ever discontinue their chicken and potato, as it's the only thing mine will eat ( do have contacts at a pet food factory, so not entirely joking....).

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/08/2017 09:32

I ordered 3 boxes from Waitrose and picked it up last night. I saw them wheeling a large box through the store on a trolley and then realised it was mine! At that point panic set in, I have an i20 coupe with a fairly small boot which was already half full. I just about got it in without having to put the seats down!

I've ordered another 3 boxes from Ocado so that's 6 months worth of pouches which will give me a chance to find a replacement, which of course is going to be something twice the price!

You do all know what this means though don't you? He'll go off it completely very shortly...

Pets at home still stock them. I think amazon are still selling them, but the prices go up and down. I wondered what was happening when wilko stopped stocking them. I guess this is the one time it's OK my fussy cat's stopped eating it! One of the pets at home own brand pouches is similar, I forget which one though.

LivingInMidnight · 26/08/2017 12:31

I don't recommend trying to find an alternative now. That's how I ended up giving the cat shelter 150 pouches last week. Wait until you have 1 month left. 😂

Toddlerteaplease · 26/08/2017 13:01

Harry is a particularly fussy cat, the op needs all the time she can get to find something else he'll eat!!

RubbishMantra · 26/08/2017 13:24

Oh no, worst day EVER! Have you tried posting on a dedicated cat from to see if they might be able to reccommend a similar food?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/08/2017 13:53

You know him so well Toddler!

That's a good idea Mantra. I am a bit wary of other forums though as I asked about dry food once and was basically accused of killing him!

It is tricky though as I don't want to put him off this stuff but as Toddler says it will take time. I was looking at Thrive yesterday but the price is putting me off!

LivingInMidnight · 26/08/2017 16:26

Pink thrive is expensive and not immune to cat fussiness. I had loads of it she wouldn't eat despite eating it for months. It's cheapest at zooplus. I'd have happily carried on buying it if she would have eaten it because it was such good quality. She'll eat the treats though, and sometimes the dry food if she thinks it's a treat and not her actual dinner. 😒

The PAH one was this. It looked and smelled very similar to hilife. They also gave me my money back when she wouldn't eat that either.

EachandEveryone · 26/08/2017 19:05

I agree about Thrive I asked them to send me some samples and she loved them. Just this week I ordered a big bag of dry. She hasn't bloody touched it.

Christ I had Hilife in my hand in morrissons this morning and put it back. Are you sure they haven't just repackaged it I noticed it was in different boxes.

Weedsnseeds1 · 26/08/2017 19:23

Most manufacturers will send a free sample if you ask nicely. Maybe contact as many as possible and see if there are any winners?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/08/2017 19:53

I've got loads of NM duck and pheasant as he's suddenly decided he's gone off it!

I tweeted Hi Life to ask why I couldn't get the flavours he likes and they ignored me, but someone else who was having the same problem phoned them and they said the Tempt Me range is being discontinued.

Thanks for reminding me about Wainwrights Living. He used to like it and I can't remember why I stopped buying it. I'll deplete the Hi Life and then slip the odd Wainwrights in!

Did u look on ocado?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/08/2017 20:37

Yes I did and I've got 3 more boxes on the way so we're covered for 6 months. It's a big risk though as I'm sure he must be due to go off them soon!

OP posts:
Weedsnseeds1 · 26/08/2017 21:01

Doomed to rejection, Hi Life will be viewed as poison within the week. Call me Cassandra if you wish, but I will be proved right....

LivingInMidnight · 26/08/2017 21:47

How do they know when we've bulk bough though?! Mine are in the garage and brought in the house in very small quantities but she still knows. 😭

Weedsnseeds1 · 26/08/2017 22:22

It's their super power Hmm

DumbledoresApprentice · 27/08/2017 07:38

The purely holistic tuna pouches from pets at home seem very similar to the Hi Life tempt me Tuna in Jelly pouches. Both are manufactured in Thailand I think. Might be worth a go.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 27/08/2017 13:49

I Pets at Home today and picked up a box of Purely Holistic pouches. He's tried the tuna in shrimp jelly and while it hasn't gone down as well as Hi Life he's eaten a lot of it. Thanks for the suggestion!

OP posts:
DumbledoresApprentice · 27/08/2017 15:27

Glad to hear he'll at least eat it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/08/2017 21:20

Well that didn't last. The PAH food has been deemed surplus to requirements. My living room now resembles a pet shop - I have 250 tuna pouches that I need to find somewhere to keep.

This means he'll go off them doesn't it?

Have you tried Animonda (on Zooplus) They have these www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/animonda/adult/595629?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2L2i4JWA1gIV7ZTtCh3NlABvEAQYBSABEgKkL_D_BwE

And also some fishy ones in cans which I found were acceptable as a change to HiLife. However I have a big problem finding something that will be eaten regularly.

There are various mixes of fish ones www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/rafine/animonda_carny_adult/53373?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2L2i4JWA1gIV7ZTtCh3NlABvEAQYAiABEgJvjfD_BwE]

Have you tried Sainsbury's taste the difference? It's my Daphnes latest favourite food
