Hello PudPeeps. What's the best (cheapest) way to temporarily block a fire place flue to prevent the fluffters from climbing up?

Chimney ballon? We had one in an old rental.

VforVienetta · 24/08/2017 21:49

Balloon i meant...

throwinshapes · 24/08/2017 22:16

Thanks. Aren't they a bit pricey?

I have a roll of fireglass loft insulation stuffed up mine

myrtleWilson · 24/08/2017 22:21

As an emergency solution when we discovered newest kitten was a climber (the others hadn't been bothered) we had to stuff bedroom fireplace/chimney with shoe boxes and assorted dry cleaning plastic covers... thankfully it worked!

throwinshapes · 24/08/2017 22:25

thecat and myrtle love both those ideas- thanks.

I have put a piece of dark grey cardboard in the fireplace.
Hang on, will take a pic to show what I mean

dun1urkin · 24/08/2017 22:32

You kind of don't see it anymore

Ah dun looks good
I like to adorn the fireplaces like this. So I guess I'll need a stuffer-upper. Smile

Temporarily? Crumpled newspaper and black poly bags.

dun1urkin · 24/08/2017 22:49

Oh I see, yes good stuffer upper stuff required in those cases.
I was quite chuffed with my solution - it was a fiver from hobbycraft.
I'm so glad I got it. Dungirlcat would've been up like a flash. Dunboycat not interested...

LapdanceShoeshine · 24/08/2017 22:50

There are balloony things you can buy

I think they're meant to be anti-draught but are prob equally anti-kitten

throwinshapes · 24/08/2017 23:00

Thanks for that link love.
Would need 4. Too bleedin expensive. Shock

LapdanceShoeshine · 24/08/2017 23:56

4????

Oh well!

Improvisation your best bet then. Maybe try blowing up a black bin liner Grin

throwinshapes · 25/08/2017 00:16

Edwardian house 2 chimneys up and 2 down. It's not posh though. It's a work in progress.
The blowing up of a bin bag is the best so far..! Grin

cozietoesie · 25/08/2017 00:22

Yep. Sorry - when I said black poly bags I meant bin liners. Scrunch up some newspaper and fit it inside the BPB. Then wodge it all up. Works fine.🙂

throwinshapes · 25/08/2017 17:41

You guys are geniuses! Grin
