How to secure house?

We are getting a new kitten end of September. Having lost our last cat, possibly hit by car but has disappeared. This kitten will be an indoor only cat. The problem is I like opening windows and having fresh air. Does anyone know how I can make them safe? Screens etc? Any suggestions are welcome.
I can't cat proof the garden btw it's just not feasible or practical here.
Thank you x

Try Flatcats

I have them in my windows (indoor only cats) as do plenty of others on here. They let a surprising amount of breeze in, yet keep out most flying bugs too. And of course keep the cats in!

We have ventilation locks on the windows, so they can be opened just far enough that a cat couldn't escape. If you have PVCu windows wickes sell one for £11.50.

We have wooden windows ( conservation area). Flatcats look perfect for us, I may get fresh air after all Grin
