As it says above really. Managed to get the little murderer away from the poor creature, the bird is still alive it was 'panting' under a cupboard, but is now just sat their quietly.

It's sat upright doesn't look (dead) or in too bad a state, but don't want to disturb it just yet, in case I cause further shock. But does anyone know what i can do help it?

I think I'd probably opt for gently dropping a tea towel over it and carrying outside, you will need to carefully hold the body to stop it flapping.
Or Google for any wildlife sanctuary near you that might come and get it.

Thank you weeds.

All the local wildlife places and vets are closed.

I left it for a short while with a little bit of water, to give it time to recompose. I saw it sipping the water .

At the moment it's hopping around the back bedroom, which gives me hope that it will be ok, but unfortunately I cannot catch it, bit wary of being too forceful in case it catches its wing on something, or I cause it further stress, but don't want to leave it loose either.

I'm wondering if I do manage to catch it whether to keep it overnight in a shoe box, so it's safe. Don't want to let it go if its injured, so the cat finishes the job off.

This happened to us a while ago, a baby sparrow, we shooed the cats away to another room, dropped a small towel gently over it, picked it up and took it out to the bushes where I suspect it had come from a nest. I released it onto a dense leafy branch and it waited a few minutes before hopping deep into the bush. We shut the cats in while we did this.

It will be fine overnight in a shoe box. Put a dish of water in there. Maybe some bird seed if you have it. It's dark now so I'd probably put it out early morning instead.
