Cat eating habit changed

My cat has always eaten deluxe pouches. Nothing else and I have tried most varieties of food.
Recently he has started eating the gravy and leaving the bits.
His teeth are fine. Any ideas ?

Possibly boredom. Ours has decided gourmet is no longer good enough.

JessicaEccles · 09/08/2017 14:20

Have you just bought a large supply on the food from Costco??? Wink

Because that is when mine usually decide they have gone off the food...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/08/2017 14:34

Wildebeest ... And let DCat catch it himself. Gravy optional.

RafikiIsTheBest · 09/08/2017 14:37

Can you mush it all up so he can't just lick of the gravy? It's not going to be a balanced diet if he doesn't eat the bits.

I'd recommend a food like applaws or natures menu if he will eat them.

Henriettacat · 09/08/2017 16:18

He is currently being hand fed chicken breast. This can't continue.
I hope it's a phase.

No, it can't continue.

You'll have to break out the prawns at some point.

Henriettacat · 09/08/2017 17:06

I tried mashing his lunch food. That's a nope.
I am not hand feeding cat food sachets

The cat has you well trained. Stop feeding him gourmet food and just give him dry food. Make sure that he has access to clean fresh drinking water. Let the little git go hungry and he'll eat the dry food.
I do this occasionally when CharlieAlphaTango decides that he won't eat anything unless it has 'sprinkles' (dreemies).

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/08/2017 17:58

Do we get a picture of your spoilt little one? :)

Thus spoke the experienced cat owner. Quite brilliant. Grin

MsMims · 09/08/2017 18:48

Does he seem otherwise ok?

Joking aside about fussiness, going off their food and licking just the gravy has been a sign of health problems in our cats.

Henriettacat · 11/08/2017 08:56

I have never posted a picture. Here's Henry hopefully. And mashing it delicately seems to work Smile

What a little angel! :)

Personally, if he's still seeking soft and mushy foods in a while I'd be getting teeth and jaw checked again ...

Henriettacat · 13/08/2017 21:47

I know you will all be relieved to know that Henry has resumed normal eating x

Oh god I totally got had by dcat last month. Ended up giving her a bad tuna habit. She wasn't happy when i realised I was being played and gradually got her back to her usual.
