A Friend is bringing her ladycat to visit this week to see if she and my boycat try to kill eachother or not... if they don't then I'll be pinching her but if they do then obviously she'll go back to friends house. can I have some suggestions to minimise damage please? They'll both be house cats, she's already in most of the time and uses a litter box at home, Not sure if it's relevant but she hasn't been spayed but boycat has. She's about 6/7 months older than my cat. Really hoping it works out because she's beautiful and is a lovely little girl💗

the first night keep her in a seperate room from the boy cat. next day just leave the door open so she can decide if she wants to come out or he wants to go in to meet her, with supervision by you, expect her to let him know she is the boss though as cat society is a female hierarchy,
if both of them have blankets they sleep on swap the blankets overnight so she will get his smell and he will get hers, get some dreamies and give both cats together a few dreamies,
feed them in the same room at the same time but at either end of the room, and over the week move thier dishes a bit closer each day
good luck by the end of the week you will know wether they are going to get on or not,
i will see if our rescue has a file to cover this will be back

sorry all the files are on fostering kittens no advice on introducing cats

Thanks! Might be a bit tricky shutting them in different rooms, boycat is shit in the kitchen at night and don't want girlcat to be roaming around in case she has an accident... do you think boycat would be annoyed if I moved his stuff to the bathroom and shut her in the kitchen overnight? Or would be go mental because she'd steal his space?

i dont think he would mind for one night and being as the kitchen has lots of his smell in it it will give girl cat time to have a good roam round and discover his smells

It takes a very long time to figure out if cats get along.

Really you should build up to them meeting- swap blankets, beds, food bowls, litter trays so they get used to each others smell. Then very very slow introductions. Liberal use of feliway.

I would not be leaving them alone together. Short, supervised meetings only. You may find one is dominant and the other gets very upset and hides, refusing to come out.

It's s bit of an urgent move, friend goes abroad to live on Friday but we were let down by the person who was going to have her at the last minute so I said I'd take girlcat, if they hate eachother when she brings her up this week she'll have to go to a cat rescue but if they don't try to kill eachother then I'm hoping it'll be ok? They'll be shut away separately if we go out for the first few weeks until I can be sure they won't kill eachother, girlcat comes from a home with 2 others so I'm hoping it'll be boycat who's more of a problem?
