So we've decided to keep one of our foster kittens (the one that our mamma cat adopted when it was abandoned) so we're going about introducing her to our resident cats and just wanted to know how to do it properly.
They've been living in the same house for 9 weeks without seeing each other and we've just been bringing her out of the foster room for a small amount of time a day. At first our two cats went crazy hissing but over the days the hissing had got less and tonight we managed to sit on the sofa with them both, we had a couple of hisses but nothing serious.

Is this the best way to do it? Is it just a case of slowly slowly.
When will we be ok to put them on the floor together, I'm scared of one of them attacking her.

Please tell me your stories about introducing your cats to a kitten.

I always start mine off in a dog crate for at least a couple of weeks so that they can get used to all the other cats but still feel safe.

That's only for the benefit of the newcomers though. I have so many cats that the original residents never even notice newcomers. It is such a regular occurrence and there are so many cats anyway that they have given up the idea of personal space. So my experience won't be that helpful. The dog crate is a good idea regardless though.
