Are they supposed ti be vocal? Mine dont meow at all should i be worried? Even if Daph gets locked out my mistake she doesnt shout to be let in. They cant both be mute can they? Infact the only time either of them have made any noise was in the taxi coming back from the cattery.

All of our childhood cats were silent, having vocal cat's as an adult has been quite a change. Both of mine are vocal as are my parents and best friends cat's. Snorg used to silently meow, that progressed to quacking and after nearly two years she's learning to properly meow.

It's bizarre I don't think they purr either!

Neither of mine miaow much at all, Loki will occasionally squeak if you're ignoring her but not very often. Molko only meows if you put her in the carrier to go to the vets, or if she gets stuck somewhere stupid. Neither of them have ever been very vocal and they're now both 6.

Mine are very quiet too. Girlcat has got a little more chatty over time, but her vocalisations are pretty low in volume. She usually just talks if she wants something (attention or dreamies). Boycat spoke to me the other day for the first time - he's spoken quietly with her but this was the first time when it was definitely me it was aimed at.

Neither of them miaow as such, more little squeaky or creaking noises. Boycat now purrs in a sort of snorry way, comparatively low volume and only when he's totally & utterly blissed out with belly rubs. Girlcat does purr very occasionally when she's getting chin scritches, but the only way I know is because I can feel the vibrations as she's totally silent.

Mine are itv surprisingly loud. They both purr very loudly as well.

Both my cats were pretty much silent (unless they were in the car on the way to the vet, when they never shut up meowing). They were both capable of meowing they just didn't want to. Now we only have the one he meows occasionally if he doesn't know where we are in the house, but it's very rare.

You're lucky! Mine screeches at the top of her voice for attention and food or whenever the mood takes her (5am today) Angry Grin

I had a noisy one and a silent one, then the noisy one died and the silent one suddenly started doing things like meowing at doors... I can only assume some of the noisy ones noises were on behalf of the silent one and now she has to do it herself, lol.

I'd go for, you clearly do what they want without noise, so they don't bother making any Grin

My three year old boy squeaks and purrs but rarely meows and if he does it's so so quiet you barely hear it

Happyeverafter73 · 04/08/2017 21:09

Lou and Andy springs to mind tabulah Grin

Both of mine are silent, it was really weird at first as my old girl had a really loud mew! Boy cat has a loud purr and will give me lots of blinks 💕 but girl cat is just silent. They are both very content cats, they just don't make any noise!
