I just can't do cat sitters anymore

I've tried twice and I know you all think I'm precious but really after five days I've come home and she clearly didn't know how to use the litter locker so it's full to the brim and what she hasn't fitted in has been left in the tray that's two cats crap. I have mountains of carrier bags and I told her if she has a problem then shove it in a bag and put it in one of the bins outside. Both there dry bowls are full of biscuits like three days worth and are all over my kitchen floor. The cats are fine and she's a lovely lady when I just text her she said she was "being blonde" the bloody flat stinks.

Errr... that's crap. Find someone else!

HemanOrSheRa · 31/07/2017 16:35

You aren't being precious each. Your girls are your much loved pets. You just want someone to care for them while you are away - the thing that you are PAYING that person for. They should be doing EXACTLY what you ask them to. End of.

toffee1000 · 31/07/2017 16:38

"Being blonde"?? What a ridiculous excuse! And insulting to her fellow blondes too.

EachandEveryone · 31/07/2017 16:48

I know. I really liked her as well once I got over her quirkiness. The other one listed under her says "I don't just love cats I AM a cat" the thing is I love my cattery it's just a lot of hassle for only four to five days I was trying to save time and money.

Oh no sorry this one didn't work out either. There are some good ones out there but unfortunately there are always those less so. Looks like cattery is your best bet then?
Vinocat is currently at the cattery, she would be happier at home but they will give her what she needs there plus fuss.

EachandEveryone · 31/07/2017 16:58

Yes tbh my neighbour will do it. I just don't like having to impose on her. She text me to say they were fine but never once asked how to do the litter you just pull the lever and the crap drops down!

Blonde moment? Hmm

Vinorosso74 · 31/07/2017 17:06

If your neighbour is happy to while you're away a couple of days that might be worthwhile then. Bottle of something and/or chocs would be cheaper than a sitter too.
Our upstairs neighbour would bring the crossword to do with Vinocat!

EachandEveryone · 31/07/2017 17:13

I don't know about a bottle of something that's my fear she's lovely but starts drinking quite early!! Her heart is in the right place and she reads a novel a day so I will get her books.

Is it just the litter thing she can't work or are there other issues? Have you had her round and actually shown her how to do it / watched her do it?

TBH emptying the litter tray of clumps and disposing appropriately is the minimum I would expect a cat sitter to do.

Did you get her thru an app? Give her an accurate review...

EachandEveryone · 31/07/2017 17:35

surely what u pay someone to do its comes after feeding them. She came round with her husband. We live on a high street plenty of bins which get emptied every day I said if you can't do it here's where I keep the carriers.

I'd just ask your neighbour tbh. Shame I'm nowhere near, as I'd happily do it. I'm a great cat sitter, even if I do say so myself! I'll feed and water them, clean trays, then either play with them for 30 mins or just sit and read / watch tv (which sounds bad, but I think it's good for them to have some company).

Pikachuwithyourmouthclosed · 01/08/2017 10:18

Can you shop around and try a different cat sitter?

I found someone through google and she's great. Comes twice a day, happy to send text messages reassuring me they're fine, brings in the post / opens curtains / turns off lights etc, follows my lengthy cat instructions to the letter, and leaves a report on the side detailing every visit, including info about where they were, how hungry they were, if they were pleased to see her, and the fact that she "gave lots of pats". Cheaper than a cattery, much less unsettling for my two.

I guess I mean that they're not all bad, and maybe you haven't found the right sitter yet?

EachandEveryone · 01/08/2017 10:37

This one was much cheaper than the cattery but generally in London theres not much in it. Its £125 for a week in the cattery for them both and they get loads of stimulation there. Heres the list of sitters for the week of nyc please note the 4th one down! uk.catinaflat.com/search?postcode=HA8+0LD&start_date=20+Nov+17&end_date=27+Nov+17&page=1&any_in_range_at_all=&times_per_day=2&ordering=distance

That sounds neglectful to be honest. I've written here before on The Litter Tray about what I do when cat sitting and what I expect of someone else who cat sits mine. I noticed your location and would happily give you a personal recommendation of someone who cat sits on the side, is absolutely great with cats, follows instructions to a tee, and works daily in Harrow (it helps that she has buckets of common sense too) - just send me a pm.

HipsterHunter · 01/08/2017 18:44

@EachandEveryone I've had good experiences on PawShake in London - have found a really nice girl who comes and stays overnight with my kitten. She is a student and lives in a busy shared flat so as well as the money she enjoys chilling in a nicer house with garden. You can see people's reviews which gives you a bit of an idea about what they are like.

HipsterHunter · 01/08/2017 19:02

Oh I see you use cat in a flat which is. Ask ally the same as law shake!

EachandEveryone · 01/08/2017 21:24

Yes well does anyone fancy looking down that list I sent see if anyone pops out? I'm not spending £200 on one though when they could be getting cat massages and everything at the cattery. Because it's a new site there's not really any reviews
