tunnel cat flap

We have moved to a new house with our cat who is 11. We don't have a cat flap yet. We are debating with fitting one through the wall with a short tunnel / tube she will have to go through. She is used to using a cat flap. Has anyone else used one of these and do you think she will get used to it? Many thanks

We just put in a 50cm tunnel cat flap through our kitchen wall. We added an extra flap on the outside to stop drafts. Our three all use it with no problems, apart from the occasional bit of begging by the back door. They're well used to a cat flap in a glass door.

The flap you can see on the inside is the same on as was in our doubles glazed door we just re-used it. Any questions please ask!

*same one as in our double

Thanks for replying. Just worried that I'd be putting a hole in the wall for her not to use it.

In my last house I had a tunnel flap through the wall. I took one of the flaps off whilst MCat was getting used to it, so he didn't feel trappedin a small space.

I put one in my last house, as the doors into the garden were pvc. I got someone to drill a hole through the wall, and then put some sort of filler on the inside. I used a standard catflap and put this at the inside end, so I could lock it easily. It was pretty long and also had quite a drop on the garden side, so I put a low table on that side. The cat, who was about 6 or 7 at the time, took to it instantly. If yours has been used to catflaps and wants to go outside, I can't imagine there'll be a problem.

We have one. Dh did it, he got a sledge hammer type thing and just knocked some bricks out! Cats were a bit puzzled by it at first but soon got used to it. I have vague memories of physically shoving one through it a few times to show her what to do!

We have one in the kitchen wall, the cats got used to it pretty quick.

We have one through the wall and both cats took to it after we moved in. As mentioned before, we also have a drop on the outside, so have layers on bricks with a paving slab on. My girl is an oldie (nearly 18) and still easily copes with it.
