Absolutely gutted - missing cat

I'm in absolute bits. My beautiful cat disappeared over a month ago. No sightings, no body, no information. She wasn't a wanderer. She may have been stolen but I'd like to think that's unlikely. I know the likely outcomes but can't get closure. Just miss her so much, she was a Maine coon and was like a shadow, so now everything I do around the place reminds me she isn't there getting into everything. Had to look at photos tonight, which I've been avoiding, and it's reawakened everything. To be fair this is the latest drama in 6 years of regular major shitty events which doesn't help. No point to this post really, other than likeminded people who hopefully understand.

I'm so sorry, my heart goes out to you Flowers

Want2beme · 21/07/2017 23:37

Oh, you poor thing. What an awful thing to happen. It's so hard when they just disappear. Thinking of you & hoping things get better for you very soon.

Apple18 · 21/07/2017 23:38

Thank you. I know I have to keep it in context. Just really upset right now.

My gorgeous tortie went off for 6 months and I found her at my local hairdressers sitting outside!! Don't give up hope op. .

Apple18 · 21/07/2017 23:49

Thank you, haircut. I keep eyes out for her everywhere, jic. Just gets exhausting subconsciously looking for her all the time. I'm keeping everything crossed.

Is she chipped?
Have you put signs up and called animal centres and vets?
Hopefully just wondered off a bit far and will get back. Flowers

Apple18 · 21/07/2017 23:56

Hi Lana, yes, she's chipped and checked details are up to date, as well as posters leaflets, rescue centres etc. Have searched the lanes and ditches around too. I hate there's nothing more I can do but wait and see. Thank you for the suggestions, really appreciated.

6.5 weeks before I found my girl...

We printed over 500 posters, door dropped, fly posted and sent to all the vets within a 20m radius. I called the council's waste team regularly in case she'd been run over and we eventually found her 3 miles away because she'd been hanging around someone's flat. The RSPCA had told them to leave her be but the people were moving and so took her to a vet, saw the poster, had her scanned and boom, she was home. Don't lose hope.

Apple18 · 21/07/2017 23:59

That's a thought, lego, I've contacted the vets but if someone's adopted her they might not have cause to scan her, I'll take posters in jic. Thank you.

They wouldn't have scanned my girl if they hadn't seen the poster...

Oh it's such a horrible feeling, not knowing what's happened to them. Don't give up hope, my British Shorthair x Siamese came back after 4 months missing. A man had her in his flat, he reckoned he hadn't seen the million missing posters I'd put up everywhere. I think he was planning on keeping her but got fed up because she's very loud Grin
I hope you find her soon

Botanicbaby · 22/07/2017 00:27

agree with all the others, don't give up hope. in situations like this, you have to think no news = good news.

its tough and a horrible thing to go through and I feel for you but as long as you have done everything you can, posters, vets, rescues, called her at different times of day/night, asked neighbours, delivery people, just keep on looking. Try not to look at photos as that will only upset you more. hoping for a safe return soon.

ncbacktoblack · 22/07/2017 00:34

Mine randomly came back after 8 months and it was like he'd never left!

Apple18 · 22/07/2017 09:12

Thanks for all your messages, I'll stay positive and keep everything crossed.

Being a Maine coon, you may be correct about the stealing. They are very desirable cats. There is still a chance of her showing up out of the blue though, as other people have said. Fingers crossed for you

Yogagirl123 · 22/07/2017 11:16

So sorry OP, don't give up hope, it is holiday time, she may have been shut in somewhere by mistake? Happened to one of my cats once! Is she a wanderer? Keep knocking on doors, asking neighbours, walk around your area rattling the crunchys box etc. Also have you let your local cats protection league or animal charities know in case someone takes her in? Please post again when you get her back, keeping everything crossed for you.

littlemissneela · 22/07/2017 11:23

Sorry to hear your cat has been missing for so long. I've never experienced it, but friends have, so can understand how you are feeling. How old is your cat? I only ask, as a friends maine coon went missing and she sadly found it passed away behind her shed. I am not saying thats what has happened to yours, btw. I am sure some kind person has let them in out of the weather. Hope it comes home soon.

pilates · 22/07/2017 15:53

Another one saying don't give up hope as friend's cat turned up after six months missing.

Holz657 · 22/07/2017 15:55

I feel for you. It's awful. try not give up hope, one of my parents cats disappeared for almost a year and turned up one day out of the blue. Sending positive vibes x

Justhadmyhaircut · 22/07/2017 17:06

Has she been neutered?

Apple18 · 23/07/2017 22:47

The potentially stolen idea is hard. I've made it clear on info that she's neutered. But you just don't be know. I'm keeping track of sales sites jic. Thank you for all the responses and the positive vibes, really appreciated.
