Introducing new kitten

Hi all,
I am after your expert hints and tips. We have a 2 year old female cat. She is very laid back, spends most of her day outside but comes home in the evenings and sleeps with me.

Next week we are bringing home a 10 week old kitten. How do we introduce the 2? I don't want to overwhelm either the kitten or our current cat. I am most worried that our current cat will dislike the kitten and decide to move out. Is it best to keep current cat inside with the kitten for the first few weeks until they get used to each other?

Any tips would be appreciated!

The current cat will almost certainly dislike the kitten at first - there will be scary hissing and much ruffled fur. But it passes fairly quickly IME so don't panic.
Keep them in separate bits of the house to start - current cat will be able to smell the kitten and be aware of its presence and get vaguely used to it, before they actually see each other. I don't think keeping an outside cat in will help at all - current cat needs to know she can escape when it's all too much.
Also think about something like Feliway for current cat - it will reduce the stress levels.
