Cat screens for balcony doors

Has anyone fitted cat screens for patio or balcony doors? It is really hot but I darent open my balcony doors in case precious pussum decides to jump up on the balcony ledge. What solutions have you found? Preferably want something I can clip on when needed and clip off when not in use as Scotland is rarely so warm!

Buy the hook side of sticky velcro, enough to stick all round your door.

Buy some flyscreen plastic mesh big enough to cover the doorway.

Sew fluffy side of sew-in velcro to the top of the mesh, and stick onto top of doorway. Use the back of a spoon to press the sides of the mesh onto the hooky velcro. It is pretty secure.

If you want more secure, sew the fluffy side to the mesh sides too.

We did this to all our windows when we got the current marauders, before they were allowed out. And kept it after they were as it keeps out the bugs.

The velcro is the weak point - the glue disintegrates after a while so you need either to replace the sticky velcro regularly or to glue it on permanently (which, if it gets dirty/mouldy, is a PITA).

I use Flat Cat screens on my upstairs windows. I like moonbell's idea of making them though, much cheaper.

Thanks! There isn't much of a bottom rim to get a grip on as the runner is embedded in the floor. But maybe just attaching at three sides will be enough to act as a deterrent?
