Lost my old boy today

My gorgeous black and white tom cat fought his last battle today aged 17.
He's been in my life longer than my children and outlived my marriage and has been just the best cat from 6 weeks old.
He loved laps and the end of the bed and the sofa just doesn't feel the same without him.
He had been failing for a while - loosing weight and getting a bit wobbly but went down hill over the weekend. A visit to the vets today revealed a suspected liver tumour and it was to me to let him go.
I have other lovely cats but he was special - that cat of a lifetime and I really think he is irreplaceable.
Just wanted to share it with people who get it. My heart is a little bit broken tonight.

I'm sorry 😥

It sounds like he had a wonderful life. Lucky cat and lucky you for knowing him. It's rubbish but it's worth it to have had them in our lives.

So sorry for your loss Flowers

They're all special in their own ways, but some are once in a lifetime personalities. He was very lucky to have had 17 years of love with you, and of course you were lucky to have had him too Flowers

Sorry slippers it looks like I've copied your sentiments but your message wasn't there when I typed mine.

I'm so sorry Bitconfused75 Sad I completely understand your heart being a little broken. It's so hard to let them go, especially when they've been part of your life for so long. When our black cat went missing suddenly a few years ago my daughter and I wept and broke our hearts over her together. Trying to explain to my little girl that our wonderful, loud purring, lap cat who loved cuddles and sleeping next to her had just suddenly disappeared was heart breaking and gut wrenching. I know it is no consolation but you gave him a wonderful life full of love. You'll always have that special place in your heart and mind for him. Big hugs.

I'm so sorry OP. It's heart breaking, but take comfort in the fact that he had a lovely long life as a pampered puss. Flowers

Thanks all - he was 'my cat' if that makes sense from the very beginning. He went downhill very quickly and I am beating myself up that he was suffering.
He leaves a big gap.

Don't beat yourself up, you didn't do it intentionally. I'm very sad for your loss Flowers
