What is wrong with my cat?!

My poor girl has a small red sore between her shoulder blades. It doesn't seem to be bothering her and she is eating/drinking/hunting as normal. Anyone have any idea what it may be please?

Picture attached!

Granted I can't see it too well, could it be a skin reaction to a spot on treatment?

Tic?

Probably worth a quick look from a vet, but could be totally harmless. (Disclaimer: Am not a vet.)

Possibly got in a fight? Caught up in a rose bush?

Icequeen01 · 14/07/2017 07:12

Does it have a little hole in the middle? If it does it will be the crater left by a tick. The hole is where the feeding tube was before the tick gorged itself on blood and dropped off. Yucky, horrible things.

Thanks all - it doesn't seem to be bothering her but all of those could be possibilities.

I will try and get a better picture. It's like a graze. Can't see a crater in the middle but it's healing and she had her last spot on treatment 2 weeks ago.

Does she get garden gates? My sister's cat scrapes itself there when it finds one too low to the ground

TheCatOfAthenry · 14/07/2017 08:26

Feck I just noticed I wrote tic instead of tick!

I should confess over at Pedants' Corner and await my flaming.

The shame!

OP hope your kitty is doing ok.

CupcakeBabaPoo · 14/07/2017 12:09

It wouldn't surprise me if she was going under gates and getting caught in things, she goes far and wide as we live near a wood.

She seems ok in herself though, maybe even slightly more affectionate. I have got another picture - I think it's better than the last one.

I thought it was spelt tic Blush it's Friday after all....!

Regardless of how she did it, keep an eye on it. Cats heal really quickly and if she's been bitten by another cat, they can sometimes turn into abscesses A problem I've had with my outdoor cats. Especially when said pusscat disappears for three days and comes back with a festering wound

Just a thought, you've had her neutered haven't you? I think male cats like to bite females there when mating..

CupcakeBabaPoo · 15/07/2017 08:27

Thank you all - she does seem to be healing today.

Fret - she is neutered but we still have Toms who come and loiter by the back door....
