Cat Burglar

Monty, the local "six dinner Sid" has been roaming about the neighbourhood lately having essentially left home (his owners got fed up of constantly posting "Have you seen Monty?" on the local Facebook site and going and getting him when found, only for him to leave again..). I thought he was just roaming our garden, and was feeling reasonably secure that he wasn't coming into our house as we have a chip operated cat flap for our lovely cat Molly, but the food was disappearing quicker than usual.

However, i have found him inside the house quite a few times in the last couple of weeks and so he has definitely found a way of breaking in through the chip operated cat flap somehow (he's sneaky, so we haven't seen him do it, so don't know how he manages it).

Does anyone have any ideas of how to stop the cheeky monkey breaking in, or do I have to invest further in one of those chip operated cat feeding bowls?

Thanks for any advice

He will be following her through the catflap, getting through before it shuts. That's how our kittens got out, by following the big cat through the double catflap arrangement that was meant to let her out (and away from their eternal pestering) and keep them in.
I once had a stray tom rip the catflap out to get in so count yourself lucky. We had a different one, who I felt sorry for, who used to creep in, sit beside me on the sofa for 10 minutes then creep out again. In both cases my female cats could not care less about the intruders.
